Incorporating Stadt 23 Nationals
24 – 28 September 2008

After the completion of a successful regatta for the J22’s Nationals, the Deneysville Aquatic Club went into full swing for Keelboat Week 2008.

The regatta was held from 24 – 28 September and, although not as many boats as was hoped for entered, the regatta was thoroughly enjoyed by all who did enter.

The wind was exceptionally kind and blew for all five days, anything from 5 – 25 knots and a total of 10 races were sailed over the five days, including a Medium Distance Race on the Saturday.  As will be seen from the results, there were a lot of neck and neck finishes

A total of 34 boats were entered in three separate fleets (gold, silver and cruising), as well as the Stadt 23 class, who had their own start – so the Bridge was kept busy at start time.  All went smoothly, however, under the professional guidance of Bridge Officer Austin Daly on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, and Trevor Hulleman on Thursday and Friday.

DAC must be complimented on the facilities provided for such a successful regatta – on and off the water.  The entertainment and catering were great, creating many a sore head and bleary eye in the mornings.
